Community Health Systems, Inc. is actively seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join our operating room team.

The role involves preparing and maintaining the sterile field, anticipating the surgical team's needs, and ensuring proper handling of instruments and supplies throughout procedures. The technician will support OR efficiency through equipment readiness, inventory management, and adherence to infection prevention protocols.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0-2 years OR surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies as Procedure dictates.
• Maintains sterile field, applying universal precautions and aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs, passing instruments accurately during procedures.
• Handles instruments and equipment per manufacturer instructions and policy.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse to ensure safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and cleans/returns equipment to storage.
• Prepares rooms for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
