Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. seeks a Surgical Technician to work with the surgeon and perioperative team to deliver high-quality patient care during procedures. The role prepares and maintains sterile fields, assists with surgeries, and ensures instruments and supplies are used properly.

The technician adheres to infection prevention standards, regulations, and facility policies to support optimal patient outcomes and safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Technical School or Practical Nursing program completed or in process.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are organized and available.
• Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Handles surgical instruments according to instructions, ensuring proper sterilization and inspection.
• Performs instrument counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Assists in patient positioning and draping to ensure safety and comfort.
• Maintains and updates physician preference cards for procedures.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes instruments following protocols.
• Restocks supplies and prepares OR for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains attendance.
