Job summary

Open Sky Community Services is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to provide direct peer support to individuals with substance use challenges. You will help clients develop and monitor recovery goals, deliver 1:1 and group activities, and foster engagement in community roles such as volunteering or employment.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, boundaries, and ethical practice, with training and supervision to support professional growth within a leading Massachusetts provider.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
• Must have lived experience with substance use disorder and be able to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics.
• Must be a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) or be willing to obtain CARC within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Persons in developing, implementing, and monitoring personal recovery goals using a self-directed recovery and wellness planning process.
• Conduct 1:1 and group activities to increase readiness for rehabilitation.
• Facilitate peer skill building and support groups.
• Support development of valued community roles including group memberships, employment, or volunteering.

Education

High School Diploma

Valid Driver’s License

Lived experience with substance use disorder

CARC certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year
