Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our inpatient team. Under supervision, you will assist with assessments and design individualized treatment programs for patients across all ages.

You will document progress, administer chosen modalities, and maintain comprehensive patient records in line with Mercy standards, contributing to education within the department. Must be a graduate of an accredited OTA program with a current COTA license or eligibility, and BLS

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS certification is required and must be current before caring for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under supervision and per policy.
• Document patient care progress notes and continuation of treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercises, or treatment procedures per policy.
• Maintain progress notes and records including documentation and charges.
• Participate in departmental education and knowledge sharing.
• Understand special needs across age groups (neonatal to geriatric).
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
