Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support the Occupational Therapy team in providing objective assessments and individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages. You will document progress and assist with modalities, exercise regimes, and procedures under supervision, contributing to Mercy's mission of compassionate care.

Ideal candidates will have an accredited OTA program graduate status, a current or eligible license, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
• Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under supervision from O.T.R./L. and according to departmental policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and continuing need for treatment.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per departmental policies.
• Maintain progress notes and records on each patient according to documentation and charges policies.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific needs (neonatal through geriatric) in care planning.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
