Job summary

AVIR at Lomaland in El Paso, TX is seeking a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house rehabilitation team on a Per Diem basis. You will work with older adults to help them regain independence under the supervision of a licensed OT.

Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, assisting with ADLs, educating residents and families, and collaborating with OTs, PTs, and nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Current Texas COTA license/certification in good standing.
• Graduate of an accredited OTA program.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Experience in skilled nursing or subacute settings preferred.
• New graduates are encouraged to apply.

AVIR at Lomaland is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house rehabilitation team on a Per Diem basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a COTA who enjoys working with older adults and collaborating with residents, families, nursing staff, Occupational Therapists, and other rehabilitation professionals to help residents improve their functional abilities, achieve greater independence, and enhance their quality of life.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Assist residents with therapeutic activities designed to improve strength, coordination, balance, mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), and functional independence.
• Provide training and education to residents, families, and caregivers regarding therapeutic techniques, safety, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs.
• Assist residents in developing and maintaining skills necessary for participation in meaningful daily activities.
• Monitor residents' responses to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and changes in functional status to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Recommend and utilize appropriate adaptive equipment and compensatory techniques as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, SLPs, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete treatment documentation and other required records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follow established treatment plans and carry out interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations and professional standards.
• Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license/certification in good standing.
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting is preferred.
