Job summary

AVIR at Alice in Alice, TX, is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team for both Full-Time and Per Diem opportunities.

You will provide skilled occupational therapy under supervision, implement individualized plans, and help residents regain independence. Our in-house program emphasizes collaboration with OTs, PTs, SLPs, nursing, and family involvement in a resident-centered care approach.

Qualifications

• Current Texas COTA certification/license in good standing.
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or similar setting preferred.
• New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Assist residents with therapeutic activities designed to improve strength, coordination, mobility, balance, ADLs, and functional independence.
• Provide training and education to residents and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, safety, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs.
• Monitor residents' responses to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and changes in functional status to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Document treatment sessions, resident progress, and other required information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, SLPs, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Follow established treatment plans and modify interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations and professional standards.
• Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care.
