AVIR at Alice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Per Diem Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house rehabilitation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a COTA who enjoys working directly with residents and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to help residents improve functional independence, participate in daily activities, and achieve their individual goals.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Assist residents with therapeutic activities designed to improve strength, coordination, mobility, balance, ADLs, and functional independence.
- Provide training and education to residents and caregivers regarding therapeutic techniques, safety, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs.
- Monitor residents' responses to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and changes in functional status to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Document treatment sessions, resident progress, and other required information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, SLPs, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Follow established treatment plans and modify interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations and professional standards.
- Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care.
Qualifications
- Current Texas Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license/certification in good standing.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting preferred.
- Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
