Job summary

The USO at Camp Pendleton, CA seeks an experienced operations leader to oversee visitor centers, programs and events on and off military installations. You will manage budgets, supervise staff and volunteers, ensure safety and quality, build partnerships with local leaders and donors, and report on outcomes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in business operations, event management or marketing with 1+ year supervisory experience.
  • Experience in non-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organizations preferred.
  • Fluency in English with strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for providing visitor and guests with a Center that is effective, inviting, safe, clean, well-maintained and ready-for-use.
  • Lead the planning, quality, and delivery of programs on and off of U.S. military installations. Deliver services, equipment and events within budget limits. Identify and implement operational and program improvements.
  • Coach and mentor USO Center staff and oversee volunteers’ schedule, activities, recruitment, training and recognition.
  • Develop, improve and maintain working relationships with USO vendors and local contractors.
  • Create, maintain and enforce Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP).
  • May monitor financial activities, including operating budget and income; manage cash and inventory.
  • Prepare, review and present reports, including financial, operational and statistical ones.
  • Communicate Centers’ operations to internal and external parties; coordinate announcements and media outreach.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance awareness and generate financial/in-kind support.
  • Perform assigned duties in the absence of leadership and other duties as assigned.
