Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Operations for the 2nd shift in Boston to lead cell therapy manufacturing activities, align with production schedules, and drive safe, compliant operations across the team.

You will mentor supervisors, manage staffing plans, review batch documentation, coordinate with cross-functional groups, and maintain audit-ready facilities while pursuing continuous improvement in safety, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline
• 4+ years of experience; prior people leadership experience required
• Experience in cell therapy and aseptic manufacturing preferred
• Experience with cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
• Experience with MES and manufacturing systems is preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations on second shift
• Provide leadership and support to Supervisors and frontline personnel
• Direct staff, prioritize tasks, and align work with production schedules
• Ensure batch documentation is accurate and review on the floor as needed
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for investigations, deviations, change controls, and objectives
• Maintain audit-ready facility with SOP adherence and inspection readiness
• Mentor and develop supervisors and team members; drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements
• Support training programs and enforcement of training requirements
