Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year supervised food service experience in an institutional setting.
• Knowledge of CMS regulations, therapeutic diets, texture modifications, and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws.
• Completes and updates nutrition screening and assessment and diet history; refers to Dietitian as required.
• Interviews residents and families to gather information for individualized care plans.
• Participates with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate plans of care.
• Communicates resident concerns to the team, Dietitian and direct care staff.
• Collaborates with other departments to accommodate residents' eating preferences and routines.
• Assists Dietitian with planning menus that meet nutritional needs and regulations.
• Verifies resident information and maintains nutrition-related documentation.
• Conducts meal observations and adjusts menus to meet caloric and nutritional needs.
• Refers complex issues to Dietitian for assessment and intervention.
• Supervises food preparation to preserve nutritional value and appearance.
• Ensures food is served within scheduled times and provides alternatives if needed.
• Manages inventory and ordering from approved sources.
• Maintains sanitary conditions to prevent foodborne illness.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
