Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year experience within last 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the FMC regulations.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer and handle freight.
• Perform daily pre-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Secure freight with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers to determine needs and solicit additional business.
• May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• Support the selling process by generating leads for potential opportunities.
