Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in New York is seeking a CDL-A licensed truck driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting sales.

You will inspect equipment, handle freight with pallets and dollies, and maintain accurate records while complying with DOT regulations. This role offers varied shifts, hazard awareness, and opportunities to grow with a leading logistics provider.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• One year of experience within the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess an acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMCSR.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and climb in/out of trucks.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles, triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business and provide leads to sales.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires or duties of road driver/dock employee as needed.
• Comply with laws, company policies, and procedures.
