Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a skilled PennDOT CDL Operator to support roadway and bridge maintenance in Berks County. You will operate trucks and heavy equipment, manage CDL requirements, and assist with safety and environmental practices.

The role features a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, a starting salary of $45,888, and potential overtime during storm operations. Telework is not available; candidates must meet all certification and licensing prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Restriction removed.
• Medical Examiner’s Certificate as required by FMCSA Regulations.
• Active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for heavy trucks and loaders within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery required for highway and bridge maintenance.
• Maintain the CDL and complete equipment certifications and daily operational checks.
• Perform flagger duties to support safe work zones when not operating equipment.
• Use a variety of tools to clean culverts, cut brush, repair guiderails, and perform other maintenance activities.
• Make field adjustments, perform minor repairs, and assist mechanics with equipment servicing.
• Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and maintain awareness of work areas.
