Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation (PennDOT), is seeking a CDL Operator to support highway and bridge maintenance. You will operate equipment, perform inspections, and assist road crews in a full-time role with standard daytime hours.

Responsibilities include equipment operation, CDL maintenance, flagger duties when needed, and manual labor tasks to keep roads safe and functional.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or an equivalent Federal Government job title.
Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School or equivalent training.
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks, loaders, and other required maintenance equipment.
Maintain CDL requirements and complete pre- and post-operation checks for assigned equipment.
Perform flagger duties when equipment operation is not required.
Use hand tools and powered tools to complete tasks such as clearing culverts, cutting brush, repairing guiderails, and installing signs.
Perform adjustments, minor repairs, and cleaning to keep equipment safe and functional.
Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and help maintain a safe work environment for coworkers and the public.
