Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator A to operate heavy equipment and support highway and bridge maintenance. The role involves coordinating with highway crews, performing manual tasks, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance in daily field operations.

Qualifications

Must possess active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL or equivalent with Air Brake Restriction removed.
Active Medical Examiner's Certificate as required by FMCSA.
Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) must be obtained during probation and maintained.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment for highway maintenance.
Maintain CDL credentials and perform daily pre‑op checks.
Perform flagging duties to guide traffic when equipment is not in operation.
Perform manual labor tasks such as cleaning culverts, cutting brush, and repairing barriers.
Assist mechanics with equipment repairs and adjustments.
Follow safety procedures and report hazards or accidents.
