Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator to support highway and bridge maintenance in Erie County. You will operate trucks and loaders, perform manual labor, and assist with repairs as part of a skilled crew.

This full-time role requires holding an active PA CDL with air brake and manual transmission exemptions, completing required training, and complying with safety and drug testing. Work hours are 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, with potential overtime and travel.

Qualifications

Successful completion of CDL training or equivalent.
Active PA CDL Class A or B with Air Brake (L) and Manual Transmission (E) restrictions removed.
Medical Examiner’s Certificate as required by FMCSA.
PA DOT certification for heavy trucks and loaders; two additional equipment pieces.
Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during probation.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery for roadway and bridge maintenance.
Maintain CDL requirements and complete daily equipment checks.
Perform flagging duties to support safe traffic flow when equipment is not being operated.
Carry out manual labor such as clearing culverts, cutting brush, erecting signs, and basic roadway repairs.
Assist mechanics with repairs and demonstrate equipment use to others.
Follow safety procedures and report injuries, accidents, and hazards.
