Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dedicated Driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process.

The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements, at least one year of recent driving experience or completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. You will operate tractor-trailers, perform safety inspections, and ensure accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have CDL Class A with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements.
• At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years or completion of the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations under 49 CFR part 383/391.
• Long combination vehicles require additional qualification in certain states.
• Ability to count and perform basic math; good written and verbal communication.
• Capability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat and climb in/out of a truck.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using equipment like forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems to dispatch.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service and upsell to sales.
