Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional to operate tractor-trailer combinations and assist on the dock in Pawtucket, RI. You will perform pre/post-trip inspections, secure freight, and handle loading equipment while ensuring DOT and safety compliance.

The role requires a Class A CDL (or CLP) and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, with opportunities to advance and benefits including health and retirement plans. On-site responsibilities and adherence to company policies apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL (or CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulated requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers with ~100 lb lift per set.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and move as required.
• Ability to follow instructions and training; work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers to tractors and dollies.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, or problems.
• Assist customers and identify additional business opportunities.
