Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with dock duties and forklift support. You will perform comprehensive safety inspections and handle freight securely, while communicating with Dispatch and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries.

Requirements include a valid Class A CDL or CLP, clean MVR, DOT compliance, and ability to lift 100 pounds frequently. This on-site role offers hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of ~100 pounds multiple times daily.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and customers for pick-up/delivery needs.
• Provide leads to sales for potential new opportunities.
• Drive in varied conditions and weather; adhere to DOT regulations.
