FedEx Freight is seeking a driver trainee to operate tractor-trailer combinations and to perform non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work. You will gain skills through education and on-the-job training, handling pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing freight, and coordinating with Dispatch on delays and deliveries.

The role requires a Class A CDL or CLP, basic math and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in varying hours

Formación

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and company procedures.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
• Where necessary, perform job duties of a road driver or freight handler.
