Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver/dock associate to operate tractor-trailers, perform safety inspections, and manage freight on and off trailers at our facility in the United States. This role includes non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work.

The position requires a Class A CDL (or CDL learning permit), ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and adherence to DOT regulations. You will work with dispatch, assist customers, and maintain accurate freight documentation.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a CDL learner permit prior to job entry.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills needed.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring ~100 lb lift force.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds several times a week.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (doubles and/or straight trucks).
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
