Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver/dock associate in Salem, OR. Starting rate of pay $25.64/hour, focusing on tractor-trailer operation, forklift work, and dock duties. You’ll perform safety inspections, ensure accurate freight documentation, and support dispatch with pickups and deliveries.

CDL or CLP required, with adherence to DOT regulations and company policies. This role combines driving with hands-on freight handling and customer service duties, in a dynamic logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regs.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up/break down trailers; lift ~100 lbs several times daily.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, equipment problems.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Coordinate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
• Where operationally necessary, perform road driver or freight handler duties.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies.
