Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL‑required driver with safety and dock duties in Portland. You will operate tractor-trailers, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and assist with freight handling using forklifts and pallet jacks.

Responsibilities include securing freight, maintaining documentation, following dispatch instructions, and providing excellent customer service. Starting pay is $26.23/hr, with diverse duties including non-driving tasks when needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or commercial learner permit (CLP) before entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR.
• Ability to perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and move dollies as needed.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
