Job summary

Starting pay is $26.23 per hour. The role involves inspecting equipment, handling freight, complying with DOT regulations, and providing excellent customer service while following dispatch instructions and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL-A or CLP before entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Move freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related documentation.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and company procedures, and confirm placarding matches hazmat shipments.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
• Ask customers for additional business and provide leads to sales.
• Where operationally necessary, perform job duties of a road driver or freight handler.
• Chain vehicle tires.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
