Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver-in-training to operate tractor-trailer combinations with accompanying dock duties. Through education and hands-on learning, you will develop the skills to handle forklifts and dock tasks.

Requirements include a CDL/CLP, DOT compliance, strong math and communication, and the ability to lift heavy freight. Starting pay is $26.23 per hour, with potential increases to $31.23 per hour depending on location and experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a CDL or CLP credential.
• Must have a valid MVR acceptable per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds multiple times per day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays and equipment issues.
• Assist with dock operations and customer interactions.
