Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a team member to operate tractor-trailer units and perform non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work. Starting pay is $27.26 per hour, with potential to earn up to $32.47 per hour.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL or CLP, clean MVR, and DOT regulatory compliance. Duties include pre/post-trip inspections, trailer hookups, freight handling, and customer communication. EOE, ADA accommodations available.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a day

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack)
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Communicate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, or equipment issues
• Provide customer service and determine pick-up or delivery needs
• Assist with road driver or freight handler duties as required
• Chain vehicle tires
• Follow laws and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
