Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver to operate a tractor-trailer, including doubles and straight trucks, with duties extending to dock work and forklift operation. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and support on-time freight movement.

The ideal candidate has a Class A CDL or CLP, a clean MVR, and the physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Strong math and communication skills are essential, as you will document shipments, interact with customers, and follow Dispatch

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under FMCSA 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a day/week.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles and straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related records.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
• Provide leads to sales for potential new opportunities.
• Perform road driver or freight handler duties when necessary.
• Chain vehicle tires when required.
• Follow laws and company policies.
