Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking candidates to operate tractor-trailer equipment and perform critical dock duties in support of freight movement. The role includes driving, forklift operation, and dock teamwork to ensure efficient loading, unloading, and on-time delivery.

The position requires a class A CDL or CLP, strict adherence to DOT rules, and the ability to handle up to 100 pounds repeatedly. Excellent teamwork and reliability are essential for success on this shift.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL or CLP required before entering job classification
• MVR must meet hiring standards
• DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to hook up/break down trailers requiring ~100 pounds lift
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds several times a week
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training
• Ability to work independently or as a team member
• Hours may vary due to operational need

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies
• Handle freight using forklift and pallet jacks
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Collect checks and maintain related documentation as required
• Ensure hazmat placarding matches shipments as required
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems
• Provide internal and external customer service
• Coordinate with customers for pickup/delivery needs
• Solicit additional business leads for sales
• Possibly perform road driver or freight handler duties when needed
• Chain vehicle tires
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
