Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver-oriented individual to operate tractor-trailers and assist with dock operations. Responsibilities include pre-trip and post-trip inspections, trailer hookups, forklift and freight handling, and ensuring proper securing of loads.

Strong driving, math, and communication skills are essential. Job includes interacting with Dispatch, serving customers, and sometimes performing road driver tasks.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) before entering job classification.
• Ability to pass DOT and MVR-based hiring requirements.
• Ability to perform basic math and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip and inter-trip inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and move freight using forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Document and report required information and keep records accurate.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, equipment issues and deliveries.
• Provide internal/external customer service and upsell opportunities.
