Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a tractor-trailer driver to operate a truck and trailers between service centers and turn-points. The role includes pre/post-trip inspections, log maintenance, and dock work as needed. You may handle forklift tasks and freight handling, with overnight shifts possible.

Starting pay is $26.47 per hour. Candidates must have a class A CDL or CLP, meet DOT requirements, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or CLP prior to entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailer sets requiring approx. 100 pounds lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor/trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions during delays/arrivals.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where needed, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Freight handling using equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Chain vehicle tires, as required.
• Follow all laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
