Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional to operate tractor-trailer units and support dock and forklift tasks as needed. The role requires a Class A CDL or CLP, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities include completing safety inspections, logs, and documentation while following dispatch instructions. Overnight stays and varying hours may be required, with a focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learner permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR parts 383, 391, and related regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator, and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding, when required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment as needed.
