Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring approx. 100 lbs lift.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 lbs several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform periodic safety inspections (pre/post/inter-trip).
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks.
• Secure freight using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight.
• Complete required documentation/reports accurately.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain docs.
• Follow hazmat regulations and placarding.
• Communicate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, problems.
• Provide internal/external customer service and gather leads.
