Job summary

FedEx Freight is looking for a professional to operate tractor-trailer combinations and perform related dock duties. The role includes pre-trip inspections, safe handling of freight, and communicating with dispatch to manage delays or incidents.

Qualified candidates must hold a Class A CDL (or CLP), have a compliant MVR, and be able to lift up to 100 pounds and work independently or as part of a team. This position requires adherence to DOT regulations and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly and work in varying conditions.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with straps and rope.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, and equipment problems.
• Adhere to DOT regulations and safety procedures.
