Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in Indiana is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, and to perform dock duties.

Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, freight handling, securing loads, and maintaining accurate shipping documents. You will communicate with Dispatch, support hazmat compliance, and assist with customer service and potential sales leads.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 of the FMC Regulations
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a day

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, hand truck
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment issues
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service
