Job summary

FedEx Freight in Terre Haute, IN is seeking a CDL-class A truck driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with starting pay of $25.64 per hour.

You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, hook and unhook trailers, maintain logs, follow dispatch, and comply with DOT regulations while delivering reliable service. At times you may assist with dock work and overnight travel could be required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift of ~100 pounds, several times a day.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where operationally necessary, perform city driving or freight handling duties.
• Freight handling using equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
