Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking CDL‑A drivers to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the sales process. Starting pay is $34.62/hour. You will operate tractor-trailers (including doubles/triples where allowed) and perform daily pre‑trip inspections.

Responsibilities include securing freight, communicating with dispatch and customers, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (automatic transmission restriction allowed).
• Must have one year of qualifying driving experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards and meet DOT FMC requirements.
• LCV experience in specified states is required for certain routes.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations and, where applicable, doubles/triples.
• Perform pre-trip and safety inspections daily.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies from tractors and trailers.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding pickup/delivery needs.
• Provide leads to sales for new opportunities.
• Perform duties of road driver or dock employee when required.
