Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a professional CDL driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process. The starting pay is $37.27 per hour, with responsibilities including pre-trip inspections, safe loading, securing cargo, and coordinating with dispatch.

The role requires operating various vehicle types, maintaining records, and complying with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements.
• Must possess one year experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under FMCSA regs must be met.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Communicate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, and equipment problems.
• Ask for additional business and provide leads to sales for opportunities.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires or duties of road driver or dock employee as needed.
