Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a full-time driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, while supporting the sales process.

You will operate tractor-trailers (including doubles/triples when applicable), perform safety inspections, and ensure compliant documentation. The role demands strong customer service and the ability to generate new business leads.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with double/triple endorsements; automatic transmission allowed.
• 1 year of driving experience in last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• MVR compliant with hiring standards
• DOT 391 FMC regulations knowledge and compliance
• Experience with long-combination vehicles (LCV) in listed states is preferred
• Basic math and counting ability for freight handling and documentation
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to document and report
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs frequently and sit for extended periods
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training; work independently or in a team

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and safety checks.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
• Secure freight using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and DOT procedures.
• Take cash or checks for freight charges and maintain receipts.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Coordinate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and generate sales leads.
• Provide internal and external customer service and seek additional business.
