Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate straight trucks, perform dock duties, and handle freight with forklift and pallet jack. The role requires CDL/BCLP, safety inspections, and strong customer service.

Responsibilities include securing freight, documenting charges, and coordinating with Dispatch to manage delays and equipment issues. Includes overtime potential and compliance with hazmat rules.

Qualifications

• Must possess Class B CDL or Commercial Learning Permit (CLP).
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards and DOT regulatory requirements.
• Ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Ability to read and understand route schedules.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and move as required.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Perform freight handling with equipment including forklift and pallet jack.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related records.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and DOT placarding where required.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service and upsell opportunities.
