Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers in Indiana.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, secure loads, and handle freight with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include communicating with dispatch, collecting payments when needed, and seeking new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• CDL A with double/triple and hazmat/tank endorsements; automatic restriction allowed.
• 1 year experience in the last 3 years or FedEx Driver Development Course.
• MVR meets hiring standards.
• DOT FMC regulations knowledge under 391.
• LCV qualifications for specified states.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, climb in/out of truck.
• Follow instructions and training.
• Work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges when required.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business and provide leads to sales.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
