Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a professional truck driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points using tractor-trailer combinations. Responsibilities include performing pre-trip inspections, hooking/unhooking trailers, and maintaining accurate logs.

The role requires a Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements, a valid MVR, and knowledge of DOT regulations. This position may involve long hours and overnight stays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple endorsements and HazMat; automatic transmission may be allowed.
• 1 year experience in last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulations under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) in listed states require specific qualifications.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractor or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports; maintain logs.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and company policies.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• May perform chaining of tires or duties of city driver or dock employee if needed.
• Load and unload freight as required.
