Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a professional truck driver to pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations. The role requires a valid Class A CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements and the ability to handle long combinations where applicable.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, maintain logs, and communicate with dispatch while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Overnight stays may be required based on schedules.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (Automatic transmission restriction allowed).
• Must have 1 year experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV qualifications apply in specified states: AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT.
• Good basic written and verbal communication.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring ~100 lbs lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in/out of the truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• May perform duties of city driver or dock employee when needed.
• Comply with all laws, regulations and company policies.
