Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking a Shuttle Driver to move empty trailers to warehouse locations and return full trailers to domicile/shuttle yards. You will work with safety checks, DOT compliance, and on-time delivery.

The role requires 12 months driving experience, CDL A with Doubles Endorsement, a clean MVR, a DOT Health Card, and a 21+ age minimum. Shifts are Sunday–Thursday, start around 4pm–6pm, with physical tasks and lifting up to 90 pounds.

Qualifications

• 12 months commercial driving experience.
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Valid CDL-A with Doubles Endorsement.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Possess a current DOT Health Card or able to secure one.
• Willing to work 3rd shift, Sunday–Thursday nights.

Responsibilities

• Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
• Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
• Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies. Immediately reports all safety hazards.
• Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
• Ensures all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch.
• Drives and delivers trailers according to predetermined route schedule.
• Performs hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
• Parks and stores tractor trailers in designated areas.
• Ensures all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.
• Collects and secures damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer to bring back to driver check‑in at base facility and complete necessary paperwork.
• Unloads all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
