Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring a professional truck driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers. The role requires operating tractor-trailers, conducting pre-trip inspections, and maintaining accurate documentation.

The position involves communicating with dispatch, securing freight, and seeking additional opportunities with customers. A valid CDL A with hazmat/tank endorsements is required, along with DOT compliance and a good MVR.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have one year experience within the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations
• LCV qualifications apply in listed states if relevant

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer or straight trucks; including doubles/triples where applicable
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed
• Complete required documentation and reports
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations
• Collect payments and maintain related documentation
• Coordinate with dispatch on delays, arrivals, and equipment issues
• Interact with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business
• Pursue additional business leads for sales
• Possibly perform chaining of tires or other duties as required
• Adhere to all laws, company policies, and procedures
