Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is hiring a CDL A Driver Trainee Component. This role trains in essential driver duties, including accurate product distribution and exposure to warehouse operations as part of becoming a McLane Driver.

You will learn to operate a tractor-trailer, document deliveries, and maintain logs while upholding safety and compliance. Benefits start from day one, with pay during training and comprehensive coverage as you progress.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability to load/unload and deliver all products as ordered.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform basic math to verify quantities.
• Communicate with customers, management, and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and use related equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English sufficiently for tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect equipment for defects and submit DOT inspection reports.
• Document deliveries and product temperatures using the DDH/PeopleNet devices.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving techniques.
• Maintain driver logs and note delivery exceptions.
• Assist in unloading and delivering products to customer premises.
• Provide on-time delivery and assist with customer credits as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
