Job summary

NIS EXPRESS is seeking CDL-A drivers in Kankakee, IL for a Midwest regional fleet that runs Monday to Saturday and returns home every weekend.

You’ll train with an experienced driver, be paid weekly during training, and transition to your own truck on full pay once the trainer signs off. The program guarantees $1,000 per week for the first 3 months of solo driving.

Qualifications

• CDL-A required, 21+
• No prior driving required for training track
• Must pass DOT physical and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Operate dry van freight across IL, IN, OH, MI and KY
• Maintain weekly miles between 1,600 and 2,000
• Remain within home weekends and proceed to solo driving after training

Have your CDL-A but no driving experience yet? This is where you start. Kankakee drivers can start on a Midwest regional fleet that runs Monday to Saturday and gets drivers home every weekend.

How You Start

• Ride with an experienced driver trainer on real loads
• Paid every week during training
• Move into your own truck on full pay once your trainer signs off
• $1,000 per week guaranteed for your first 3 months of solo driving

The Job

• Dry van freight in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky
• 1,600 to 2,000 miles per week
• Home every weekend
• Drop and hook, live loads, live unloads and preloads

Pay

• Average weekly earnings of $1,000 to $1,700
• $40 extra on loads under 150 miles, $25 on loads of 151 to 250 miles
• $15 stop pay for each stop except first and last

Two Ways to Start

• CDL-A in hand, no experience: 120+ hours from an accredited CDL school. Paid training with a driver trainer, paid every week while you learn.
• Experienced drivers: 6 months OTR in the last 12 months, or 12 months in the last 5 years. Skip training and go straight to your own truck.

Everyone Needs

• Class A CDL, 21 or older
• No more than 2 moving violations in 2 years
• Able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
• Live within 100 miles of Gary, IN
