Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, while supporting the selling process. You will perform pre-trip inspections, hook/unhook trailers, secure cargo, and comply with DOT regulations.

Starting pay is $29.83 per hour. The role requires lifting up to 100 pounds, ability to work independently or in a team, and a valid CDL A with hazmat/tank endorsements. FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• CDL A with double/triple and hazmat/tank endorsements.
• One year of recent driving experience or completion of FedEx Driver Development Course.
• MVR meets hiring standards as per DOT requirements.
• DOT FMC 391 regulatory knowledge and compliance.
• Able to count and perform basic math.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Able to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, climb in/out of truck.
• Work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations following safety rules.
• Perform pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies as needed.
• Handle freight using motorized and manual tools.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Collect charges and maintain documentation for shipments.
• Coordinate with dispatch on delays, arrivals, and problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Solicit additional business and provide leads to sales.
• May perform chaining of tires or other duties as required.
• May perform road driver or dock duties when necessary.
• Follow all laws and company policies; perform other duties.
