Job summary

FedEx Freight in the United States is seeking a professional Driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the sales process. Starting pay is $31.26 per hour.

The role requires a Class A CDL with double/triple and hazmat/tank endorsements, a clean MVR, and DOT regulatory knowledge. You will perform pre-trip inspections, load handling, and customer communication daily.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed).
• Must have one (1) year of experience within the most recent three (3) years or complete FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 383/391 for commercial motor vehicle operation
• Ability to perform basic math and count with or without a calculator
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and coordination
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of truck
• Ability to work independently or in a team
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples where applicable) or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair freight as needed; complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain documentation as required.
• Follow dispatch instructions and report delays or issues to dispatch.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and generate sales leads.
