Job summary

FedEx Freight seeks a CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process. You will operate various truck configurations, perform pre-trip inspections, and ensure safe, compliant delivery across routes.

The role requires meeting DOT regulations, handling hazardous materials endorsements, and maintaining accurate documentation while pursuing additional sales leads to grow business.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations (Section 391).
• LCV qualifications for specified states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples (where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with DOT regulations and company procedures.
• Collect payments when required and maintain records.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs.
• Demonstrate customer service to internal and external customers.
• Solicit additional business leads for sales opportunities.
• May perform tire chaining or other duties as needed.
• May cover road driver or dock duties as necessary.
